The most important thing to remember when creating your e-zine or newsletter is that there must be a powerful benefit to get your visitors to subscribe to your listings.
There’s little point in saying `Sign up for our free newsletter’, as visitors won’t bother. Most of us suffer from email overload and the last thing we want is yet more of it.
So make sure you offer a powerful benefit: Be the first to hear about our regular give-aways and special offers by signing up for our free newsletter.’ Or just include the benefit in the title of the newsletter. For example, our gardening newsletter is called Top Tips For Gardeners, which in itself is a benefit.
I searched around for ages trying to think of a suitable title for our newsletter and eventually sat down and wrote down all the things I was going to include in my publication. When my list went on to several pages I began to realise that what I was planning to put together wasn’t a newsletter, but a book!
So I went back through my notes and scaled down what I was planning and found the only way I could really put together something useful and beneficial was to offer readers the benefit of my practical gardening experience in the form of tips.
I’ve now built up a loyal readership who not only read my e-zine but also contribute to it by emailing me their tips.
