As well as actively encouraging your visitors to suggest suitable links for your site you should also search for your own sites to include. Draw up a list and contact them all asking whether or not they would like a free link on your site and in turn asking them if they would they put a reciprocal link to your site.
Whatever you do don’t be tempted to charge people to put links on your site as this doesn’t work.
Don’t forget to make a list of your competitors’ website addresses and find out where they are linked to, then approach these sites and ask them to add your site to their links.
Remember to check through your links regularly to make sure that they are all working and the sites they relate to are still relevant to what your site is offering.
